Linda Lins Obituary

Lins, Linda Lee

Linda Lee Lins, 65, was called home to her Lord and reunited with her husband, Mike on Monday, March 25, 2013. Linda was born January 20, 1948 in Fond du Lac, the eldest daughter of Melvin C. and Coral "Coke" Hankwitz. She was a 1966 graduate of L. P. Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac. Linda started working as an office clerk one week after graduation at Medalist Industries, Fond du Lac. She worked until she married the love of her life, Michael C. Lins on October 21, 1978. Mike's job promotion moved them to Wausau where they made their home for over 30 years. In Wausau, Linda worked at Peoples State Bank and Stieber's Key Realty. Linda's nature was quiet and reserved, mixed with a flair for fun and adventure. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, going out to eat, playing piano and organ, playing computer games, board games and cards. She also tried her luck playing Keno and video poker at the local casinos. Linda was an avid Beatles fan and saw them twice in person on their first U.S. tour. She made the first all girls pom-pom squad in high school. She enjoyed being a Brownie and later a Girl Scout through her high school years. She also tapped dance and performed on stage.

Linda battled a quiet and courageous fight with breast cancer. She started chemo therapy just after Mike's passing. Her sister, Sharon, came to help her during her last year of her life. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mike.

Surviving is her sister, Sharon (Joe) Helgert, Grand Rapids, MI; and two brothers, Steve (Joy) Hankwitz, Malone, and David (Sandy) Hankwitz, Fond du Lac; two nieces, Lori Hankwitz and Katie Hankwitz; two nephews, Scott Hankwitz and Dustin Hankwitz; and her Godchild, Kim Kastorff.

Linda always had a fondness for her birth city, Fond du Lac, and will return there when she is laid to her eternal resting place next to her beloved husband at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Friday, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 North Marr Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Michael Morning officiating.

Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com.
