So very sorry to hear of Phils passing. He and I started teaching together at WM Jr High @ 40 years ago and his personality was so outgoing and he made friends very easily. Our families spent some time together back in those days and I remember Phil (and Bill) coming to help me install a basketball goal...that was an interesting experience for sure! Three teachers trying to figure out how to make concrete in a bucket!! I moved on to other endeavors after a few years and Phil moved on to WM High School where he went on to become a coaching legend. I always enjoyed keeping up with his teams accomplishments! Cathy and I are holding Jane, Amy, and Jill in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks for sharing Phil with us and the community....i can say that our lives were surely made better from that friendship.

Phil was one of finest prep baseball stars this area of Wisconsin ever produced. Whether playing shortstop or pitching he was an absolute star. My memory of 40+years ago recalls he had an electric fastball. He made playing baseball look easy even as an underclassman. I played baseball for Sheboygan Falls High School against his New Holstein High School team and I dont recall ever besting them in a game. We were both named to the Packerland All Conference baseball team in 1976. After high school I recall playing slow pitch softball against him in a tournament in Waldo, WI. He was playing for The Flying Machine. It saddened me to see his obituary at such a young age, but after all these years I still recalled the name because of his skill on the diamond. May God bless his loved ones and find comfort that he is being remembered fondly from afar.

My heart is broken today; when I came to coach at West Monroe H. S.
Phil showed me how to coach. I learned so much from him. I loved Phil and will miss him very much!
