Daniel Cronin Obituary
Daniel Ward Cronin, 60, of Lunenburg, passed away peacefully in the company of family on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 after a long period of declining health.
Along with his wife Jacquelyn, Daniel leaves three children: John, Michael, and Kathleen, of Lunenburg, his father, Dr. Joseph F. P. Cronin, of Fitchburg, and four siblings, Patrick Cronin of Westminster and his partner Lee Hall, Eileen Cronin of Boylston, Dr. Michael Cronin and his wife Dr. Claire Cronin of Lexington, Anne Howard and her husband Chris of New Hartford, CT, many sisters and brothers-in-law and his much-loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Kathleen.
Daniel was born on a U.S. Army base in Orleans, France on October 8, 1960, the son of Dr. Joseph and Kathleen (Ward) Cronin.
Dan proudly graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1978 and the College of the Holy Cross in 1982, where he met the love of his life Jacquie. He earned a law degree from Tulane University and went on to a distinguished career as a trial lawyer in Worcester County.
A devoted public servant, Dan worked as an Assistant District Attorney, Special Prosecutor, State and Federal Public Defender, and in private practice as a litigator for over 30 years. Dan loved the law. He loved to advocate for his clients, the camaraderie in the courts, and the intellectual combat of a trial. Dan also served as a Selectman in Lunenburg where he fought for the successful construction of a new library, public safety building, and primary school.
Danny loved hockey and cherished the great friendships and stories from his days as a player, referee, coach, parent, and fan. He knew every rink in New England and its nearest diner or pub. In recent years, he discovered a love of painting, fishing, and golf.
Dan's life centered around his family. He was deeply devoted to his wife of 35 years, Jacquelyn, and immensely proud of his three children. Although taken too soon, Dan lived well, helped many, and will be deeply missed by the countless friends that love him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 4 to 7 PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd. (Rte 2A), Ayer.
Daniel was an active member of Saint Boniface Parish, 817 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg, where his funeral liturgy will be held privately with burial to follow in the North Cemetery in Lunenburg.

I had the pleasure of driving with Danny to and from school during vacations and holidays in our early college years. His wit and humor kept me smiling and laughing the whole time. It was a pleasure to re-connect years later when he brought John to St. Paul's School and we continued our conversations while watching SPS hockey games together.

I wish that I had known Dan. We were classmates at Holy Cross, and I suspect that we would have been good friends. Your Dan appears to have been my kind of guy, and I commend whoever wrote the obit. Nicely done. Missed opportunities are sad, especially when they involve relationships. Its something that we all must accept I guess. We share the same middle name, as well as the source. I was named after my mother's father. May the love and peace of our Lord be with Dan Cronin and his family forever. I am sorry for your loss.

Dan and I worked together in the D.A.'s Office and did defense work for a number of years. I admired Dan's skill in the courtroom and enjoyed his company, especially during our lunches when we would discuss our cases and our families. The Worcester Bar lost one of its great ones. Dan was an excellent lawyer and a good friend. He will be greatly missed! RIP Dan.
