Joseph G. Aziz

LUNENBURG -- Joseph G. Aziz, 80, died on Saturday, August 6th, 2011.

Joe, born in Gardner, MA, on December 12th, 1930, was the son of the late Joseph and Adele (Aziz) Aziz. He was a graduate of Gardner High School, class of 1948.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret (McNally) Aziz; daughter Katie (Aziz) Mikaelian and her husband Charles of Lunenburg; son, Anthony Aziz of Brooklyn, NY and his partner Sammy Cucher; as well as his beloved grandsons, Matthew Mikaelian and Adam Mikaelian of Lunenburg.

Joe is also survived by brother George Aziz and his wife Joan of West Boylston, MA; and another brother, John Aziz and wife Lorraine of Falmouth, MA, as well as eight nieces and nephews.

Joe served three years of active duty with the U.S. Air Force and three years with the Air Force Reserves. He served as a Supply Sgt. during the Berlin Air Lift with the Material Air Transport Services, and later served during the Korean Conflict.

Retiring in 1985 after 25 years with Foster Grant Co. of Leominster (American Hoechst Corporation), Joe was employed as Sales Customer Service Manager.

Following his retirement, Joe worked for eight years as a Purchasing Agent for Lipton Mental Health Center of Leominster, and then later enjoyed volunteering at Burbank Hospital and for the Lunenburg Meals on Wheels Program. He was an enthusiastic Patriots fan, an adoring grandfather and an outstanding neighbor.

AZIZ -- His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 3PM in the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave. Burial will be in the North Cemetery at a later date. A calling hour at the funeral home will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 3 PM.
