My heart stopped for a moment. It never occurred to me that when I went searching for my friend with the twinkling eyes and the most beautiful smile (that could truly light up a room) that I´d learn he had passed. We met on Long Island in the 90´s, I remember walking into the bar and being stopped dead in my tracks, what laughs we had, what moments we shared. We both had Toyota Supras, I loved his and he loved mine. Always kind and always gentle; ah Matt, I know you are there just up around the bend. I was lucky to have met you. Luckier still to call you my friend. Until we meet again.

My deepest to condolences to your partner and your family.

Oh, Matt, my heart is broken. We never figured out how to get together, after all the phone calls and texts and plans that never came through. When I close my eyes I still see you at 18, in the driver's seat while we sit in the Burger King drive-thru on the way to school. You were one of the most important people in my teenage life, and I have never forgotten you and all the great times and talks and togetherness. I never will forget you. This will be the longest summer because there will be no joking at the end that another one went by and we didn't make plans. I hope you know how loved you were!

Matthew and I met in 1990. I had just turned 21 and he 23, tending bar. I ordered a drink and was immediately smitten and taken back when he came onto the dance floor to find me. We danced for hours as Madonna's "Vogue" was played over and over.

He was without question the most charismatic, funny and handsome man I had ever met. Our lives were forever intertwined despite the time and distance between us. In many ways, I am who I am today because of Matt.

Had I turned a different corner we never would have met... What would life be like without Matt in it?

Matt's love for his family was unwavering, most notably for Aunt Tina. He was a friend to everyone, a good story teller and constant jokester.

Goodnight sweet Matthew... until we meet again.

Bernie and the Dadah family, Matt was a wonderful human being. Always had a smile and a kind word to say. He always kept a positive outlook on life. I've known him for 15 years and I can't imagine my life without him in it. I will miss speaking on the phone and he'd say, "Hello, my little chickadee!" I will miss his jokes, his laughter, his hugs, his way of always getting me to smile. I love you, my friend, you will be deeply missed. ❤
