YAYO!!! Man I'm gonna miss seeing you around. The best part is there are so many good memories that I have of you that I will never forget you. I remember chasing the school bus together in the rain in middle school, laughing the whole time. Get-togethers at my grandmas house won't be the same without you hookin up the oysters for us. Man, I could go on forever about all the good times. I know you can hear me from where you are, so I just want you to know I love you dog and can't wait to see you again. The Block will never be the same...

Rayford: your dear son worked with my brother, Mike Casey. His wife has cancer and he told me your son always took the time to seek him out and listen to him and always asked if he could do anything to comfort HIM. He says there was no kinder soul than your lowing son. I went to school with u-Kathy Casey. I've been hearing about your son for quite some time. I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take some comfort in the fact that he was such a comfort to my brother time and time again. May God bless your family and your boy.

Donye was a great guy to work with. Could always bring a smile to your face no matter what kind of day you were having. I briefly knew Donye from past years of when he played high school ball with my cousin but in the few months I worked with him it was truely an honor and a privilege to get to know him better. The friday before his passing he had asked me to get a picture of "garbage mountain" and I told him he should ride down with me in person because pictures didnt do it justice. It was heart breaking sunday morning to hear of his passing and knowing that we would never get that ride. Prayers go out to his close friends and family in these hard times. May Donye forever enjoy his eternal ride. Rest In Peace Brother.

This is not goodbye! This is until we meet again. I have so many memories of you bro following us around Me, Terro, and Chris playing in the steet riding our bikes while you looked at us from Mrs Guice's front yard wanting to ride to. As we grew older I would come home from time to time and you would be in the front yard doing some work in that hot sun with your shirt off. We would always share a hand shake and a hug. I will miss you bro, but we will see each other again someday. May God Bless you and keep his arms around the rest of the family.

With Tears On Our Pillow,
refusing To Let Go
When We Heard That You Left here,
Felt Alone On a play ground,
We're lost in Your hometown
since You left here,
they say time makes it better,
but in time We'll see You later,
We'll be together,a long time forever. when We leave here.
But We'll miss Your wit.
We'll miss Your charm.
just want to hold You in Our arms, hearts and in blue You have no clue, how We'll miss You,
We'll miss Your voice,
when You would call.
We'll miss Your smile, most of all. Just us two with no where to go
and nothing to do,
We're going to miss You.
We take simple precautions.
We think of You often,
since You left here
Life a bit harder,
We'll love a lot smarter
since You left here,
The days that We can't take it.
My We know We'll make it,
With Jesus and memories.
It will help us and keep us
since You left Us since you left here, Oh We'll miss Your wit,
We'll miss Your charm
just want to hold You in Our arms.
My Heart is blue You have no clue
how We'll miss You,
and We'll miss Your voice
when You would call,
We'll miss Your smile
most of All
just us to with nowhere to go
and nothing to do
We're going to miss You
Oh We'll Miss you,
SO just hold Him Lord.
Just hold Him in Your arms,
Rock Him in your arms,
Oh I'll miss Your voice
when You would call
I'll miss Your smile most of all.
Just us too with nowhere to go.
and nothing to do,
there will be tears on Our pillow
its hard to just let go
when You left here.
what I know for sure
it was a great celebration and,
Jesus was waiting
when You left here

In 2011 when I was in the Tri-Cities after the death of my Son's Father, I had left the community gathering after the service and was sitting down by the river. It was where our boys played when they were growing up and a spot of so much joy for my family. I thought I was alone in my grief. I was crying when Donye came upon me and said "Ms. Landis, I don't mean to intrude but can I do anything for you?" I know he had other things to do but in his giving manner, he sat quietly with me for a very long time that day. I will always remember his kindness, and the wonderful man he had become. I will also always remember his laughter and smile when I first came to work at Pasco High. He could make anyone happy just by being around him. His heart will live on in his family and friends. Peace be with you all during this time. There will come a time when the memories make you smile.

July 17, 2014
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

As I read the previous messages, it brings joy to my heart knowing so many others in our community have just as many great memories of this special young man. Donye had an energy about him that made everything seem brighter whenever he was around. He was sincere, caring and valued family, a topic of most of our discussions. My heartfelt condolences to his family and those closest to him. I pray that the loving memories can bring some peace during the hurt of this tragic loss.
Know he is smiling down on us!

I found out the horrible news when I was out of town. It didn't hit me until I arrived back into Tri-Cities Monday the 14th.... As soon as I got off the plane I felt complete sadness. It was like I walked into a cloud of anger, sadness, confusion and the ultimate question WHY? Not the man who had the brightest smile to light up our generation. Those who group with him know what I mean. His laugh was contagious. I'm going to miss him saying Qually Quail everytime he greeted me. No else called me that but him. He had a name for everyone because he treated everyone the same. Even though we didn't talk much after High School he gave me confidence in Middle School. We use to play basketball at lunch and it use to be the four brothas against the Preps....lol. I wasn't that good back then and Donye kept telling me little tricks here and there and kept telling me to have confidence in myself because he had it in me. We went on to play on the same teams and against each other as we got older. I will always be in debt to him for building my confidence up to where it is now. Not just in basketball but life. Donye my friend I will miss you. I know it is temporary and when it is my time I know you will be standing at the gates and "Qually Quail".
See you soon bro I know you laughing as I write this, I shed a couple tears because I'm lost but I know your found.

Donye I'm sorry... I don't understand and its difficult for me to grasp that you're gone. I'm sure a lot of people knew you. Family, friends, you know the typical Pasco family tree, but what I knew of you was a little different. For me, you were that information and knowledge of our generation. Hardly EVER was there a time we'd cross paths and you didn't ask about my mom. You pieced together a history and painted a picture so vivid I felt like I lived here as a child growing up kicking it with you and Lavaine. I respect you Donye and I believe the feeling was mutual. You represented the old Pasco that I knew. Stopping by your crib after visiting my grandparents was common. You'd always try to feed me fish or something and see if I wanted a cold one. Old soul... we got it like that and there ain't too many of us left. I heard you say once that you believe our generation is the last of a dying breed. I challenge all those born in this new generation to allow this tragic event as a wake up call. Know your peeps, know the history. My condolences to the family. Love you Ye

My thoughts and prayers go out to Donye's family and friends. Donye was more than a friend to everyone in our house. He was and will always be a part of our family and we wouldn't want it any other way. He brought a special light into the room as soon as he walked in. His stories, jokes and laughter could make anyone's day brighter. Donye would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was the only one he had, if you needed it. He holds a special place in our hearts. We love you Ye!

There's no words that can truly express my thoughts and feelings about such an incredible young man. To the family I first want to say thank you. Thank you for allowing us to be blessed to know your son. As I look back on my life, there's not a year from the time I was 8 years old that didn't include "The Don". He was a friend that is more like a brother! We spent countless days talking about life!! Ups, downs, smiles, frowns!! At the end of it all we both knew we were blessed to have each other!
Donye is a man that not only changed lives he cared about each person he came into contact with!! He will truly be missed!
To the kids, I got you!! I will always be here to love you and support you in any way I can!
Lastly, I have sayings and slogans that will forever be in my vocabulary cause of Yay!! We all know he had his own dictionary! I will say see you on the other side my friend!! Not another in the world like the

My heart is heavy thinking of Donye, but then I see his face and I feel a smile coming on, I will always love Donye like my own nephew. The words I have read about him are definitely true! Passionate and gentle but also a force to be reckoned with. What a thought Corey and Donye together again watching over their girls, Ye's son and all of their family, with Ms. Christine saying "what yall doing out there?!" Loving the family, giving you our heartfelt condolences and prayers to lift you up in your time of need.

Donye was my brother's best friend, so that automatically made him a second brother to me. He never failed to make me laugh and was so much fun to be around, but he had a serious side. When he was passionate about a subject, he talked and you listened. When my daughter entered high school, she became close with Angie's daughter, Sierra and spent many days and weekends at his house. He told me not to ever worry about her as long as she was at his house because he'd take care of her. When my son entered high school, he was a huge supporter of him while he was playing football. Always there cheering him on in the stands and critiquing him the next day! Whenever he got in trouble or made bad decisions, he had to hear it from my brother AND Donye. He was another male remodel my son could look up to and he knew if he messed up, he had two uncles that were going to get right with him! He had a special bond with my dad over the past several years and would go by and visit providing him words of encouragement, trying to keep him positive. He sat with my brother and I for hours the night before our dad died, never saying much, but just being there with us. I always had love for Donye before that night, but loved him even more afterwards. I will never forget what he did for us in those last days of my dad's life. He was a true definition of a friend and will be missed greatly.

Often not even having to be present in the room.
