Joseph St. Thomas Obituary

FAYETTE - Joseph R. St Thomas passed away on May 12, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. A private graveside service will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choosing.

Joseph was born in Massena, NY in 1936, the son of the late George St. Thomas and Rose (Slyman) (St. Thomas) Brown. He joined the Army at the age of 17, a career in which he served for over 20 years. After retiring from the Army he went on to manage the Seneca Army Depot Bowling Center for 17 years and then worked at Sunset Bowl for another 3 years.

In 1957, he married Mitsuko (Uechi) and they shared a union of over 63 years. Joseph and Mitsuko moved to the Finger Lakes area in 1964.

Some of Joseph's interests included bowling, fishing, running a small family farm, and going for long country drives with his wife. Well known to Joseph's family, close friends, and neighbors, he took great pride in maintaining his property and in helping others whenever he could. He was a member of a Sunset Bowl league and the Geneva American Legion Winnek Post 396.

In addition to his wife, Mitsuko, he is survived by his daughters, Rose (Joe) DiVincenzo, Mary (Mike) Midey, Shelia (Peter de Arteaga) St. Thomas; son, Joe (Barb Klue) St. Thomas; brother, Earl (Barb) Brown; grandchildren, Beth Sheehan, Daniel (Caitlyn) and Colleen DiVincenzo, Sean Roulan, Rachel Midey, Maya St. Sebastian, Eli and Molly St. Thomas; great-grandchildren, Brycen Sheehan and Matthew, Damien, and Amara DiVincenzo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert, Ernest, Raymond and Roland St. Thomas, and Wayne Brown.
