Phyllis Standish Obituary

TRUMANSBURG - Phyllis Adele Bardeen Standish, age 78, of Trumans burg and formerly Reading Center, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2013 at Cayuga Medical Hospital with loved ones at her side, including son Jack.
Visitation will be at the Burdett Presbyterian Church, Church St. in Burdett, on Wednesday (May 1st) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Reading Center at a later date.
Phyllis was born March 14, 1935 in Dundee, N.Y., to parents William Revere Bardeen and Emma May (Webster) Bardeen. Early in her life, she and her three children were involved with The Squires Drum and Bugle Corps. With this organization she also traveled throughout the country as a chaperone. This was an enjoyable time in Phyllis' life and would continue to share stories with people often. Phyllis worked very hard supporting her three children by maintaining and picking grapes by hand at numerous Finger Lakes vineyards. Phyllis enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, singing, and spending time outside tending to yard work and flowers. She also enjoyed being with family and friends. Phyllis also enjoyed riding motorcycle with a large group of friends. She was a member of several groups throughout her life, including North American Forty Tour ing Club, Retreads Motorcycle Club, as well as a Trike Organization. She and special friend Judy Craft traveled all over the country as well as Canada. Her love of singing also allowed her to sing with Sweet Adelines, Trumans burg Chorus, Canandaigua Chorus and Seneca Sound Waves.
She is survived by a sister, Doris Ann (Bardeen) Hager; children, Jack Lee Standish II, and Mona Rae (Gary) Bibow; grandchildren, Anthony Lloyd Hall (son of Mona) and Jonathon Lee Clawson (son of Jack); and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Revere Bardeen and mother, Emma May (Webster) Bardeen; husband Jack Lee Standish; and son Lloyd Eugene Standish; as well as siblings, Morris Bardeen and Viola Fultz.

To the Standish family, My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I remember your mom being such a spit fire and when she teamed up with my mom (Polly Powers) they were double trouble! They are now together most likely creating trouble up above!

We are very saddened to hear of Phyllis's passing. She was always the live of the party. We really enjoyed her while she was a member of the Burdett Players Group. She was a hard working lady but was always friendly even in the worst of time. We did have some sad times as well and a lot of good times. We didn't see much of her in later years but always enjoyed a laugh when we did see each other. Sorry. she will be greatly missed.
