Ronald Naragon Obituary

GENEVA – Ronald L. Naragon, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Geneva General Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Glenwood Cemetery with full Military Honors. The Rev. Thomas P. Mull will officiate.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the dialysis unit at Geneva General Hospital or to a charity of one's choice.

Ronald was born on October 30, 1947 in Geneva, N.Y. He was the son of the late Donald and Rose Borys Naragon. Ron served his country in the US Army and was a member of the Nester Hose Co. #1 of the Geneva Fire Department.

Ron was an avid sportsman, hunter, and fisherman entering numerous Lake Trout Derbies in Geneva. He loved playing cards and was also a huge race fan of dirt and asphalt racing. Ron was a fan of Danny Johnson and Buck Catalano. His father Donald won numerous races at the now Idle Maple Grove Speedway in Waterloo and Don was the 1954 Driving Champion, also a gifted Ford flathead engine builder. He loved classic cars and always wanted to own a 1940 coupe with the original flathead V-8 motor. Ron lived his life to the fullest!

Ron is survived by his cousins, Mary Ann (Harry) Close and Steve Buck; as well as several friends.

We will miss our chats about racing, classic cars, and plans to attend upcoming races over a good cup of coffee!

Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home.
