Carl Brandt Obituary

CARL H. BRANDT, 85, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in Lutheran Hospital. The Fort Wayne native retired in 1979 as a Requisition Engineer for General Electric Corp. after 42 years of service, was a GE Apprentice Toolmaker Graduate, served as president of their Alumni and was Past-president of the GE Club. Also active in square dancing, Mr. Brandt was a teacher and caller for 52 years. He was an accredited member of the International Callerlab and served as their Caller Association Liaison Committee Chairman and was Past-president of the Indiana Square Dance Caller's Association. He was a part-time faculty member at the University of St. Francis and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy in 1980, and second wife, Joan, Jan. 2, 2003. Survivors include his daughters, Sandra J. Bonsib of Issaquah, Wash., Pamela S. Boehner of Dallas, Texas, Terri A. Magley of Fort Wayne; a son, Charles H. Brandt of Cincinnati, Ohio; and nine grandchildren. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, 2313 S. Hanna Ave., with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 402 W. Wayne Street. Burial in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. The preferred memorial is Zion Lutheran Church.
