Coreen Gilbert Obituary
Survived by her husband, Fred; brother, Jerry; sons, Dan (Julie) and Joe (Cyndi); and five beautiful grandchildren, Damon, Ellie, Chase, Delaney, and Emmie. Services will be held at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior.
Calling also at the funeral home on Friday, February 28th, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mazza or 89.1 WBOI public radio.

My husband David and I met Coreen when she was the librarian at Huntertown Elementary School and our daughters were little. We all served in the Peace Corps so we bonded over those memories. Her husband Fred became a friend and ally on many equal justice and human rights causes.

I am so sorry for your loss. What a great lady. I loved working with your wife and mama. Remembering our recess duty days together! She always put a smile on my face. She was loved by all... Coreen had such a huge heart... SO loving and SO kind. She had such a love for life and love for people, nature and books. And of course, we shared our stories about family... All of you were her number one. She was very proud of her boys and loved her family.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Praying for you at this difficult time... May you feel God`s peace and presence and may he give you great comfort in the coming days... God`s blessings to you all... Love you... Diane Scharlach.
