DOROTHY VEVIA Obituary

The following obituary is being republished to provide additional information. DOROTHY J. VEVIA, died peacefully Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Golden Years Homestead. Dorothy was born on July 24, 1931 to Benedict and Luella Brames. She graduated from Central Catholic High School and began working at Neisner's. There she met James A. Vevia Jr. They married and raised their eight children. After retiring from North American Van Lines, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering through the Fort Wayne Parks Dept. and spent many hours tracing the family genealogy. She is remembered as a kind and loving person who always enjoyed her times with her large family and friends. If there was a baby anywhere near, it was soon in her arms. Dorothy is survived her children, Carol (Tom) Fanger, Karen Rossman, John (Marianne) Vevia, Cathy Stinefield, Mary (Larry) Keeling, Linda Robinson, Thomas (Lisa) Vevia and Steven (Michelle) Vevia; siblings, Lois (George) Neuhaus, Judy Lortie, Sharon (John) Fosnaugh and Robert (Barbara) Brames; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding Dorothy in death was her husband, Jim; daughter, Marie; parents, Benedict and Luella Brames; and siblings, Thomas, Richard, Patricia and Eugene. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to St Charles Catholic Church or Stillwater Hospice. A special thank you to Golden Years Healthcare staff and Stillwater Hospice for their compassionate care.
