MARIAN HAGUE Obituary

MARIAN DALE HAGUE, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Coventry Meadows nursing facility. Born Dec. 27, 1929, in Pullman, Wash., she was a daughter of Katherine and Dale McCoy. Marian graduated in 1947 from Palouse High School in Palouse, Wash., where she spent her formative years. Following graduation, she attended Washington State University in Pullman, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in home economics. She then studied at the University of Chicago, taking classes toward a Master's degree in home economics until she withdrew to care for her first child. She relocated to Fort Wayne in 1952, where she was active for the remainder of her life in various businesses, charitable and volunteer activities, including the Fort Wayne Finishing School, P.E.O. Chapter AB, Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni association, Aldersgate Methodist Church, Hope Alive, the Indiana Bar Association Law Auxiliary, the Fort Wayne Senior Center, Lutheran Hospital (where she was universally known as "the magazine lady"), and Emmanuel St. Michael Lutheran Church. "Mom lived life on her terms as a true lady and, of course, also remained a true diva to the end." She is survived by her son, Thomas P. (Sherry) Yoder of Union Pier, Mich.; daughter, Katherine A. Pinkterton (companion Tom Rochford) of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Kristine D. (Michael) Boon; grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon (Brittany) Boon (who affectionately knew her as their beloved "Grandma Hoo! Hoo!"); and new great-grandson, Bradley Boon. Also surviving are brother, Dr. Richard (Erlys) McCoy of Spokane, Wash.; eight nieces and nephews, and a myriad of great nieces and great nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Thomas W. Yoder, John Grandy and Baker Hague; brother, Jack McCoy; and sister, Kay Vancik. In lieu of a public calling and burial, the family is planning a private remembrance event at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart To Heart Hospice. "Mrs Yoder" - for that is still how I remember Marian from my childhood was a wonderful, magical, creative, warm and loving presence in my childhood in Ft. Wayne. I so fondly remember her playing the piano - "Teddy Bears Picnic" often - and us kids marching around the living room singing. She's also sing "My Gal's a Kappa" - I was an adult before I realized what that meant to her. Her warmth, intelligence, kindness and creativity are still remembered by our whole family. Wishing Tom, Kathy and Kris and their families peace and comfort as they mourn this wonderful woman.
