Nellie J. Haynie

1925 - 2025

Nellie J. Haynie, 99, of Ft. Wayne, IN, formerly of Spencerville, entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Golden Years Homestead in Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born on November 11, 1925 in McKeesport, PA to the late Thomas Walter & Margaret Mary Helen (Turner) Poynor. She married LeRoy Smith Haynie on March 27, 1948 in McKeesport, PA and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1987. Surviving are daughters, Fannie (Bret) Brown of Spencerville, Mary Lou Haynie of Spencerville, Maggie (Mendall) Campbell of Harlan, Lori Schippers of Butler, Cindy (Greg) Miller of Antwerp, OH; sons, Tom (Julie) Haynie of Bluffton, Rick (Donna) Haynie of Elsie, MI, Keith Haynie and Tim Haynie of Creston, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren & 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter & son-in-law, Emma (Paul) Giffin; sisters, Margaret H. Smith, Annabelle Frank, Fannie Bunting, Blanche E. Thomas, Mae R. Castle; brothers, Thomas W. Poynor, Jr. and James L. Poynor. She was a homemaker and loved fostering over 100 children. She was a preacher's wife for years in Harlan and was a member of Countryside Church of Christ in Grabill, IN. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 4 pm at Harlan Memorial Cemetery, Harlan, IN. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 am with a friends and family gathering from 9-11 am at Countryside Church of Christ (14314 Hurshtown Road, Grabill, IN).
