Ola Budrow Obituary

Ola Catherine "Kitty" (Pitts) Budrow, 97, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away peacefully at 10:54 pm Friday, July 19, 2024, Kitty was born on February 4, 1927, in Sneads, FL, the daughter of Stanley Pitts and Alma (Beauchamp) Pitts. She graduated from Grand Ridge High School. Kitty found love at first sight, when she was introduced to US Navy Sailor Raymond J. Budrow Sr. The couple joined in marriage on March 27, 1946, in Panama City, FL., and shared nearly 73 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 24, 2019. Kitty opened her heart and their home for over 30 years to dozens of kids as a daycare provider. She also was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Kitty truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, reading mystery and historical novels, enjoying long drives, and growing beautiful flower gardens. She was passionate about entertaining guests and feeding whoever came to visit. Kitty was known for her delicious southern cooking, especially her fried chicken and her wonderful pies. She looked forward to spending time with her family at the lake enjoying the home cooked picnic dinner she prepared. Although Kitty's life had many chapters, her character never changed, she was loyal, faithful, caring and had an amazing gift for loving others with no hesitation.

Kitty is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Richard "Dick") Schulte of Port Townsend, WA, Raymond "Ray" Budrow Jr. of Huntington, IN, Joseph S. (Colleen) Budrow of Port Angeles, WA, Robert "Bob" (Kim) Budrow of Sequim, WA, William "Bill" D. Budrow of Columbia City, IN, Catherine "Cathy" (Stanley) Hammond of Ft. Wayne, IN, Karl D. (Tammy) Budrow of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jeannine (Randy) Allen of West Chester, OH; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Pitts, mother, Alma Pitts, husband, Raymond J. Budrow, Sr., brothers, Thomas Worrell, John S. Pitts, Willard Pitts, sister, Irene Walker, and daughter-in-law, Jacki Budrow. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 North Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN with Fr. Evaristo Olivera officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass. Kitty's final resting place will be with her husband in Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.
