Mr Nern was my English teacher at Woodlan High School in the late 60s. I have always remembered him as a very special man. We were an all girl class that he allowed to have some fun as we studied English. He was my favorite teacher and I was sad to see him leave teaching.

Bob and I shared an office at the History Center from 2014 until he retired. In in a kind and supportive way, Bob helped me acclimate to my position when I was newly hired. Over time, we had many memorable conversations about books (Bob was an avid reader!) and life in general. I was blessed to know him, missed him when he retired, and will always appreciate the time spent. From our conversations, I could tell Bob was a good husband and father. I extend my sympathies to his family. Debbie Hickman

Remembering Bob and thinking Bob's wife and family during this difficult time. I worked with Bob while I was serving on the History Center Board. He was a joy to work with on the Finance Committee. I know he will be deeply missed. Sending thoughts and prayers.

Bob was such a kind, loving, gentle soul. I have spent many happy times with Bob and Liddy and feel grateful to have called Bob a good friend.

I came to know Bob well during our years in banking. He was a gentleman and one of the nicest people I've ever known. His contributions to his community are countless. We've lost one of the good guys. Rest in peace, Bob.
