Susan Hood Obituary

Susan K. Hood, 77, of Ft. Wayne, slipped away quietly on her journey Home surrounded by family on March 30, 2024, at Coventry Meadows, Ft. Wayne, IN. Susan was born December 21,1946 in Ft. Wayne and married Keith N. Hood April 9, 1988. She was a charter member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and a 1965 graduate of Bishop Luers High School. Susan was a qualified medical assistant at Saint Anne's Nursing Home, Parkview Hospital and Brighton Hall Nursing Center in New Haven. She was involved with Toastmasters since 1988 and currently served as secretary and treasurer of the Bob Leiman Toastmasters Club. Susan volunteered for the American Red Cross, Lutheran Hospital and the Women's Care Center. She was a past extraordinary Eucharistic minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and served communion to shut-ins. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who shined as an example to all in her strong Catholic faith and devotion to her family. She was an incredibly strong woman with a generous and kind heart. Susan was always thinking of others. She enjoyed playing cards and in her last days was an unbeatable mancala player. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Keith Hood; daughter, Kristine (Ed) Lill; sons, John (Annie) Landgraf Jr., Bill (Ann) Landgraf and Andrew Landgraf; grandson, David Lill; granddaughters, Caroline (Eric) Trabel, Maria (John Paul) Thomas, Allyson Landgraf; great-grandchildren; Jameson Trabel and Lorraine Thomas; brothers, Donald (Jeanne) Kawiecki and Robert Kawiecki; sister, Carol (David) Gould; nieces and nephews, Katie Kawiecki, Brad (LeeAnn) Kawiecki, Matt (Rachel) Kawiecki, James (Valerie) Kawiecki, Tim (Alyssa) Kawiecki, Jenna (her God Daughter) (Jason) Bracht, Donald (Becky) Oldham Jr., Angie (Mike) Baldinger, Laurie (Russ) Farrell and Alyssa (Josh) Sellers; brother-in-laws Donald (Kathy) Oldham Sr. and Tim (Debbie) Hood; sister-in-laws Karen (Greg) Hover and Tonda (Craig) Warner; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Ty) Spicher, Mark (Jenn) Hover, Charlie (Brittany) Hood, Cyndi (Matt) Techentien, Justin (Jenn) Warner, Trevor (Emily) Warner, Savannah (Nick) Prior, Britney Hood and Jennifer Hood. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lois (Drury) Kawiecki, sister, Patricia Oldham, brother Jimmy Kawiecki and sister-in-law Rebecca Kawiecki.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Friday, April 5, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd. with calling one hour prior. Calling also Thursday, April 4, 2024, 3 to 7 pm with the Rosary recited at 7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne. Burial with graveside service will be 11 am Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to EWTN Network, NAMI Ft.
