Dennis Engel Obituary
Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army and went on to work for over 30 years with the United States Postal Service in Baltimore. He was also the owner of Valley Video in Green Valley for more than 25 years. Additionally, Mike spent over three decades coaching youth baseball, softball, and basketball, positively impacting many lives in the community. He cherished time with his grandchildren and was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. In retirement, he and Judy enjoyed traveling across the United States and cruising to Caribbean destinations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Kevin Engel and wife Tina of Baltimore, Michael Engel of Montgomery County, Chad Briggs and wife Natalie of Leesburg, VA, Kim Brandenburg and husband Alex of New Windsor, and Lauren Ulander and husband Brian of New Market. He was a proud grandfather, known affectionately as "Pop," to eight grandchildren, Nikki, Caitlin(and Tim), Colin, Jack, Will, Robbie, Levi, and Sammy (due in June), and six great-grandchildren, Roman, Sadie, Riley, Reid, Ellie, and Reggie. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Engel and Phyllis Ledford, and his brother, Richard Engel.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 22 from 3 - 6 p.m., with the service beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Sullivan Hall (part of St. Peter's Catholic Church) at 9190 Church St. Union Bridge, MD 21791.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's honor to Frederick Health Hospice, 1 Frederick Health Way, Frederick, MD 21701 (Please write Kline Hospice House in the memo line).

I had the opportunity to play softball with Mike when we were a bit younger. Mike coached one of my sons years later in the Junior Lancer basketball program. I can honestly and sincerely say Mike was one of nicest people I have known. I send prayers and condolences to his family. I know you will see him again.
