Edward Schairer Obituary

Edward "Ed" Matthew Schairer, 78, of Middletown, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Spring Arbor of Frederick in Frederick, MD. He was the loving husband of Sarah "Sally" Staley Schairer for 35 years.

Born on February 6, 1946, in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Edward Vincent Schairer and Helen (Abucewich) Schairer.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, 1963, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, 1968. He served in Vietnam from 1968-69, and completed his tour of duty at Ft. Detrick.

Ed was a pharmacist at Weis Markets for 28 years. Additionally, he was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Ed was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Casey Schairer-Flores (William), and Aaron Wachter (Katie); grandchildren, Oliver Flores, Molly and Logan Wachter, and Chance and Keelin Dove; siblings, Vincent Schairer (Monique), and Josephine Schairer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by daughters, Amy Dove and Lydia Schairer, and an infant grandson, Christopher.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road in Middletown, MD.

Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to may to Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, MD 21769.

My deepest sympathy to Ed's family. I worked with Ed as a pharmacy tech at Professional Arts pharmacy before he worked at Weis. Ed was a great guy and he always taught me something new.God Bless his family in this difficult time!
