Susan Klecan Obituary
Born on January 22, 1946 in Milford, DE, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mildred J. Peterson of Ijamsville, MD, formerly of Seaford, DE. Susan was preceded by her husband Kenneth Wm. Klecan. She is survived by her son Geoffrey, and his wife Kathleen, of Jefferson, MD along with her grandsons Rory and Darren.
Susan was a graduate of North Dorchester High School in Hurlock, MD. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Towson University and her Master of Science from University of Maryland. Susan retired from teaching in 2011 after 43 years of service in Maryland, spending the majority of her teaching career at Cabin John Junior High School, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, and Quince Orchard High School in Montgomery County. Susan taught history to many ninth grade students and helped to write curriculum to enhance education in both Montgomery and Baltimore counties. Additionally, Susan was an instructor for teacher training programs for three Maryland school systems, as well as for the University of Maryland.
The family will celebrate her life at Stauffer Funeral Home at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Sunday, June 22nd. The viewing will begin at 2pm with a service to immediately follow at 3pm. Internment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Market Volunteer Fire Company online or via mail to New Market Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 76 W Main Street, New Market, MD, 21774.

I worked with Sysan at Quince Orchard. At first, she wasn't sure we would work well together; but, I assured we would. And we did. I enjoyed working with Susan a lot. She was outgoing and warm. After her retirement, we would talk on the phone; and, I enjoyed my visits with her at her home. I will always treasure my memories of the time I spent in her classroom. I'm sorry for the loss of this wonderful person. She will be missed.
