Charles Ahart Obituary

Charles Philip "Charlie" Ahart

Charles Philip "Charlie" Ahart, 86, of Spotsylvania passed away on May 4, 2025, at Spring Arbor Cottage in Fredericksburg. He was born on January 1, 1939, to the late Marian A. and Charles E. Ahart.

Charlie graduated from Seton Hall University in 1960 with a degree in Accounting. The following year, he joined the United States Navy and entered Officer's Candidate School, where he earned a Commission. He served honorably for three years aboard the USS Saratoga.

After completing his naval service, Charlie continued his commitment to public service by joining the FBI as a Special Agent. Over the course of a distinguished 29-year career, he rose to the position of Supervisory Special Agent before retiring in 1994.

Charlie was also a man of deep faith and community involvement. A devoted member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Spotsylvania, he was active in parish life, serving as a Knight of Columbus and singing in the church choir. Alongside his beloved wife, Ruby Annette Ahart, Charlie volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity, offering his time and energy to help others.

Mr. Ahart used to visit the Snow Library, and I always enjoyed speaking with him. He asked for book recommendations, but he also had wonderful stories to tell. So sorry for your loss.
