Janice Hodges Carneal went to be home with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2021. Born and raised in Goochland, Virginia, Janice went on to work for A. H. Robins for 30 years in the Medical Services Department. Upon her retirement, she went on to help found and establish Carmel Christian Academy now The Carmel School. It was there she helped carry out the vision of training up children in the way they should go so when they are older they will not depart from it. Her passion for helping others was evident in everything she did. She as a long-time member of Carmel Baptist Church, where she loved to serve and worship with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Carneal and 3 grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Carneal and his wife, Lisa; her son, Stephen Carneal, and his wife, Melissa; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Carneal II, Courtney Carneal, Chancellor Carneal, Gideon Carneal and Brennan Carneal; Ruth Adams, who she considered a daughter; brothers, James Hodges, John Hodges and David Hodges. She is finally at peace, but will be missed by all. Visitation will be Friday July 16, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at Storke funeral home 111 S. Main Street Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Carmel Baptist Church located at 24320 Jefferson Davis HWY.
