Albert Jacoby

Albert Kenneth Jacoby, 10/27/1927 - 1/2/2021 - Albert was a true Detroiter in all aspects, born to Irish and German immigrants he lived on West Grand Blvd with Belle Isle as his playground while helping at the family restaurant, Jacoby's Since 1904 on Brush Street. Albert continued his love of Detroit working under Mayor Jerry Cavanaugh as his campaign and Director of Industrial Development. He was committed to his faith as a member of Bethany Lutheran and attended both Concordia HS in Ft. Wayne and Valparaiso University. He was drafted by the Army and served 8 months in Hawaii at the end of WW II. After discharge he continued his education at MSU and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Journalism. He married Barbara Allen in 1955 and their 65 year+ marriage produced 6 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Active in many pursuits as a Delta Chi, member of the Lutheran Choralaires supporter of the Lutheran School for the Deaf and the Indian Village Tennis Club. He successfully ran his own ad agency, Jacoby & Company, before retiring in 1986 to Leland MI & Vero Beach FL. Besides enjoying golf and tennis Al became an accomplished painter and loved to write poetry. Al is survived by his wife Barbara of 60 years, brother Edmund, 6 children - Al, Catherine (Vargas), Curtice, Christine (Greenia), Chuck and Connie (Lopiccola), 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Service to be held Thursday January 7th at Trinity Lutheran, Pinckney MI. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance limited to immediate family.

As a former Lutheran Choralaire, my sympathy to you on the death of Al, Of course Ii have many fond memories of him and enjoyed our time together at Camp Arcadia and at our concerts. He was a great person and I consider it a privilege to have known him.
