Bloomfield Hills - January 15, 2021. She was 82 years old. Nancy was born July 15, 1938 in Minneapolis to Roxy (nee Gray) and George Wilson.

Nancy prepared for teaching by graduating from SUNY-Albany, Oakland University (M.A.T.) and post-graduate training at U of M. Nancy taught children for over 30 years, with more than 25 years in Berkley Public Schools, teaching at all levels. She was dual certified to teach and taught Learning Disabled and Emotionally Impaired children in Special Education. She was passionate about helping children and their families. Many of her students maintained contact for years after matriculating.

Nancy also loved animals, and rescued and adopted several cats and dogs during her lifetime. She was generous, charitable, and kind. She was a lifelong exerciser, a lifeguard, runner, tennis player, and skier. She loved cooking, baking, and gardening. Nancy and Bill loved to travel and visited many places in the U.S., North and South America, and Europe, both with the NOMADS travel club and on various cruises. She also loved Northern Michigan, where they summered with family.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of over 16 years, William and her children, Samantha (Wilhelm Schlag) Whitney of New Haven, Connecticut and Alexander (Sarah) Whitney of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua and Henry, Bill's children, Inga (Andrew) Sweet and Karl Bartlam and grandchildren, Hanna, Benjamin, Emily, and Isabelle. Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, Warren Wilson.
