ROBERT SHAWN age 44 of Ponchatoula, Louisiana passed away on July 8, 2016 from a heart attack. Shawn was born on March 8, 1972 in Willoughby, Ohio. Beloved son of Bonnie and stepfather Robert (deceased) Meyerand and Robert A. and stepmother Maria Ipavec. Shawn leaves behind two daughters, Ainsley and Alexis (Cory) Parker. Grandson of Kurt and Chrystal Seemann (deceased) and Anton and Marie Ipavec (deceased). Dearest brother of Kimberly (Joseph) Colleran, Lori (Thomas) Moesta, Robert (Jennifer) Meyerand, Lisa (Travis) Mitchell and Lisa Lemley, thirteen nieces and nephews and godmother Robin Seemann. Shawn will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Shawn joined the Navy in 1994 and accepted into the Search and Rescue program. While on an endurance run he injured the Sympathetic Nerve (part of the nervous system) that changed his life forever; due to his injury Shawn was given an honorable discharge in 1995. This didn't stop Shawn, he followed new dreams, working in construction, joined the local volunteer fire department and during Katrina he helped with the rescue efforts and rebuilt their homes. In 2009 his RSD took a strong hold on his body causing immense pain during flare ups that eventually caused him to need a wheelchair. Shawn didn't feel sorry for himself, he'd say to his Mom, you can make a situation bad or make it into something positive. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Viewing at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Rd., Plymouth, Michigan 48170. Burial at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the RSDS Association; envelopes will at church or online at RSDS.org. would be appreciated by the family.
