Ada Josefina Flores Warner

Ada Warner Obituary

Ada Josefina was born on May 27, 1958, in Fresno, Ca. where she grew up, while spending many happy summers in Chihuahua, Mexico. Ada met and married Steven M. Warner in El Paso, Tx. Steve was her best friend and love of her life for over 26 years. Their beloved sons, David and Mark, were born in El Paso, the family then moved to Fresno, where their daughter, Erica was born. Ada summed up her life on her 45th birthday stating she was truly happy and completely satisfied with her life which was full of faith, love, laughter, family, friends and a sense of fulfillment. When diagnosed one year later with stage IV cancer she summoned her faithful determination to live life to the fullest while maintaining hope. To love another is to see the face of God Ada was a 1976 honors graduate of Bullard High School. Ada learned Mexican dances as well as ballet with a Fresno dance troupe. Ada had many exciting employments, one as a Program Director for KYSS Radio in El Paso,Tx. Ada had nearly 20 years of banking experience with different banks including Guarantee Savings and Sanwa Bank where she made many lasting friendships. Ada had a penchant for learning which had her returning to college after 20 years and joyfully receiving her degree in Social Work in 2002 while working full time, attending California State University, Fresno part time and completing her internships. Ada worked in her dream job for Kings County Social Services for two years and found fulfillment working with families. Ada began the CSUF graduate program in 2004, believing she could be of better service to her families and the community with a Master's in Social Work. Ada had many passions and was faithfully dedicated to Our Lady of Victory parish. Ada served OLV School for 16 years (which she and later her three children would attend), as president, vice president, and member of various boards where many great friendships and memories were made. Ada also served as a Church Reader and Eucharistic minister. Ada loved animals with passion almost as much as she loved people; especially her 25 pound cat, Jeremy who could do no wrong. Ada was very appreciative of the prayers and unyielding, heartfelt support from Steve's friends and co-workers at the Fresno Police Dept. and the FPOA. Special thanks to Henry and Ruth Acosta, Fr. Fininan McGinn and the CSUF Social Work and Title IV-E Depts., professors and students for their love and support. Ada was especially thankful to Dr. Thomas Hackett and to Dr. Chris Julian and all the wonderful individuals who became friends, you know who you are, at Hematology-Oncology and Hinds Hospice for her loving care. Ada's last wish was to remind everyone to keep laughing, spreading peace, hope and love, and especially to enjoy God's precious gift of life. Ada was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Josefina Palleon; her grandfather, Alfredo Palleon; and father, Guillermo Flores, Jr. She is survived by Steve, her beloved husband of 26 years; her treasured children, David and his wife Sarah, Mark and Erica; her mother, Emma Flores; sisters, Rosa Carlson and her husband Carl, Blanca Sciara and her husband Tom; and brother, Fred Flores; her parents-in-law, Robert and Molly Warner of El Paso, Tx. many beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many close friends who she considered family. Visitation will be held at the Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2007, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at Our Lady of Victory Church at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church of Friday, July 20, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. Interment follows at Belmont Memorial Park. To Ada's family:

Please accept my sympathy for your loss. I pray that your good memories and knowing that she is in a better place will ease the pain.

Ada was a good friend during our junior and senior years in high school and through Campus Life. I remember that Ada always seemed to be up-beat and interested in others. I last saw Ada at our 10-year reunion. Among other things, we talked about moving back to Fresno, which we had both done that year.

It's always hardest when the good ones leave.

God bless you, Ada.

I came to know Ada when I was attending Fresno State as a Social Work student. When I would walk into the a classroom her smile automatically lit up the room and only words of encouragement and praise were all heard from her lips. She was not judgemental nor did she have unkind words to speak. Her kindness and her warmth will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of meeting this wonderful woman. God Bless.
