Joseph F. Lang, Jr., a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, has pas-sed away from cancer at the age of 79.
Joe was born on July 13, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Penn-sylvania, and grew up with his four brothers and one sister. In 1950, he married Florence Smoley and together raised six children. He and his family came to Fresno in 1965, while pursuing a career move with the U.S. Air National Guard.
Joe instilled a strong work ethic by working two full time jobs; one at Fresno ANG for 30 years and seasonally for Gallo Winery for 20 years. A dedicated worker, Joe was a role model and mentor to his children. He lead by example fostering honesty and integrity.
Always willing to lend a hand, Joe made many friends and was appreciated and loved for his thoughtfulness. He faithfully sent cards and made calls for special occasions. He never missed an oppor-tunity to help and to be a friend. Joe brought joy into the lives of those who knew him. No one will ever forget this inspirational man.
He will be missed by Florence, his loving wife of 58 years; sons, Joe, Mark and Eric; daughters, Karen, Lisa and Elaine and their families; and nine grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made by donating a pint of blood to the Central California Blood Bank in Joe's name. He was a proud 10-Gallon donor. This was one of Joe's ways of giving back to his community. NEPTUNE SOCIETY of Central California 1154 W. Shaw Fresno, Ca. (559)222-7764
