Khanh Nguyen Obituary

Khanh Kim Nguyen

January 12, 1970 - December 8, 2024

Santa Cruz, California - Khanh Kim Nguyen, age 54, of Santa Cruz, CA (and formerly of Fresno, CA) passed away peacefully in his home on December 8, 2024 after a very private and brief battle with cancer.

Khanh was born on January 12, 1970 to Khoa Nguyen and Hong Nguyen in Vietnam. Khanh lived in Fresno most of his life and attended Fresno State, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a founder of Epsilon Sigma Rho, Delta Chapter.

His professional career was in the manufacturing industry: Quickie Sunrise Medical, Tri-Ex Tower, SpectraSite, Weir Floway, and Baltimore Air Coil (BAC). While these companies were all located in the Central Valley, the jobs afforded him many travel opportunities throughout the U.S. and overseas, and a brief residency in Maryland. A leader in the industry, he took greater pride as a mentor of people. He was an inspiration to many in both his professional and personal life.

In 1999, Khanh and Angie (Garcia) Nguyen began dating, were engaged in 2004 at the summit of Half Dome in Yosemite, and married in 2005. They devoted themselves to each other and the various pets they raised over the years, some who will greet him over the rainbow bridge. Together, they created many beautiful memories and achieved a lifelong dream of buying a home in the Santa Cruz Mountains, surrounded by majestic redwood trees and within short distance to the beach.

Khanh had a deep respect for nature and enjoyed the outdoors. Most vacations involved visiting national and state parks, camping, and hiking. His most memorable experiences were connected to the people he shared them with and the food. An avid football and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he was known to use football analogies at work and host memorable Super Bowl parties at home.

Khanh is survived by his loving soulmate and best friend, Angie Nguyen; his parents Khoa and Hong Nguyen; siblings, Hung and Cathy Nguyen; in-laws, Jose and Evangelina Miranda, Monica Miranda, Patty and Ernie Morell, Ramon Garcia; godchildren, Malik Hernandez, Mikaela and Elijah Galindo, Nathan Jang, and Ryan Alvarado.

Blessing and Cremation ceremony was held on December 12, 2024 in Santa Cruz. A Praying Mass will be held on December 28th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church located at 4144 N. Millbrook Ave, in Fresno. A niche-side blessing will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum at 264 N. Blythe Ave in Fresno. A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2025. Details to follow at a later date.

Rest in peace, dear Khanh... You leave an immense void in our lives and in our hearts... I'm immensely blessed and grateful for the time we shared; the work challenges, your insatiable quest to find solutions, the teamwork, your people first values and attitude, the wit and the good humor... all good memories that will not be easily forgotten. Your unwavering dedication, commitment, kindness, and friendship inspired me, and you will be deeply and sorely missed. Your legacy will live on in our hearts, as will our last discussion, brother. My condolences to your family and loved ones.

Khanh was an amazing person, who shared and encouraged caring, kindness and compassion as a part of everyday life. Khanh was the friend you could always count on to encourage you, share his thoughts and remind you whenever needed that "there is no shame in failure, only in quitting " . I am a better person for having known Khanh and will always be grateful for his friendship. To his family, know in your grief that Khanh made the world a better place and that speaks volumes about the love and kindness of the family who raised him and Angie, the person he chose to marry - all reflections of the values he shared with us. His presence will be missed but the positive energy he shared will always be here with us.
