LUISA GOLIK

Luisa Golik passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Luisa was born on December 19, 1922, in Maribor, Slovenia, the first of Gustav and Maria Bortuzzo's six children. During World War II, she and her family fled Slovenia, settled in an Italian refugee camp, and then immigrated to Venezuela after a six week transcontinental boat trip. Luisa was a talented artist and skilled business owner who spoke six languages. Upon arriving in Venezuela, she worked as an art teacher, eventually opening a successful art and stationary store in Valera, Venezuela. In 1986, the Golik family immigrated to Fresno to join family living here. Into her 80's, Luisa continued her artistic career as a prolific painter with works hanging in local restaurants, and worked as an associate at Michaels. Luisa's family thanks Aspen Sierra Vista for their loving care. Luisa is preceded by her husband Ivan; and her son Damir. She is survived by her children, Luisa and Maurizio Russo, Davor and Dawn Golik; and daughter-in-law Imelda Jebian Golik. She leaves her grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Golik, Tonyefa, Damir and baby boy Oyake, Giorgio, Andrea, Dante, Leonardo and baby girl Russo, Ersilia, Michael and Joshua Lacaze, Danika, Anthony and Xenia Stefanich, Gabriella Golik, and Daniella and Karolina Golik. She is also survived by extended members of the Jebian, Golik, and Bortuzzo families around the world. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Farewell Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Remembrances may be made to Catholic Charities of Fresno.
