Mark Santos Obituary

MARK WAYNE SANTOS

Mark Santos was born on January 10, 1957, to Steve Severiano Santos and Lillian Fierro Santos in Fresno, CA. Mark attended ARC and CIP and was 48 years old when he passed away in his sleep on Friday, December 23, 2005. Although Mark had a disability, he was of sunny countenance and had a mellow disposition. Mark "never met a man he did not like". He sensed goodness and reciprocated it in his handshakes and hugs. He enjoyed life and friendships he amassed and was a joy to be around. Markie was an integral part of the family. All the sons and daughters grew up with Markie as a playmate, then adult, and finally as middle age elder. Yet, he never grew up and his essence was reaching out to the child in all of us. Mark provided unrequited love throughout his life and will be sorely missed by everyone. Mark's mission in life was to remind everyone of his humanness and to "trust all joy." His father, Steve Santos, preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Santos; five older brothers, Esteban, Peter, Gerald, Stan and Antonio; and nieces and nephews, Camille, Marina, Lucha, Geraldo, Uoxina, Estevan and Severiano. A Funeral Mass will be at St. John's Cathedral on Friday, December 30, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.

I really liked Mark I can remember many things about Him but my favorite was when I worked the special olympics and He walked up and told every one I was nice.(which any one whom knows me it's not true.) Many times He would tell me I was nice and I would say no you're the one thats nice and He would say meeee and I would yes you. I shall miss Him also.

Markie will be greatly missed,I remember growing up with him. Him riding his bicycle around the block all the time. And stopping at our house on the corner too play his guitar, dance, & talk to my brothers, his friends, & myself. May God watch over Markie & his entire family. We'll see you later. It is difficult to lose a loved one during Christmas. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, may they cherish the beautiful memories and may they all draw strength from the Lord.

I would like to thank those who have sent their condolences to my family. I appreciate the cards sent to my grandmother and ARC/CIP’s presence at the funeral. Mark truly loved each and every one of you guys. There is not a day that goes by that I don't see him dancing, running up to me, or simply grabbing my hand and saying "mine." Uncle Mark's memories will be cherished and his presence truly missed!

It has definitely been a blessing having to know Mark and having an opportunity to work with him at CIP. Mark is one of the first and most unforgettable individual I had the pleasure of knowing at CIP, his loving presence and the peace and joy he brought will be greatly missed by all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of sorrow. God Bless you all.
