Orena M. Kapigian

Orena M. "Mikie" Kapigian went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2018. Orena M. "Mikie" Green Kapigian was born October 6, 1931, the youngest of seven children. Her mother died when Mikie was 18 months old and as a result, her early childhood included several moves from homes in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and finally back to Texas at the age of twelve. When she was 14, Mikie found the place where she felt she belonged at St. Michael's Convent School for Girls in Dallas Texas and considered it to be her home. Upon her graduation from High School she came to Fresno California to live with relatives and attended Fresno Jr. College. Her first week in Fresno she met the love of her life, Raymond Kapigian. They were married March 3, 1951 and were blessed with two children, daughter Linda and son Paul, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren with one on the way. Mikie enjoyed the role of caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She felt blessed to have experienced their births and lives. She would often share their pictures and activities with her friends. A large part of Mikie's legacy was her contribution to her church community through her dedicated work and service to St. Mary's Anglican Church. She served the community of Fresno by her participation on the grand jury and the Juvenile Justice Commission. She looked forward each year to being a volunteer at the Fresno Fair and the California Armenian Home. Throughout her life, Mikie was a good friend to many and impacted lives in many different ways. Her friendship with others will not be forgotten and will continue to live in their hearts. Mikie is survived by her daughter Linda Reed and son in law Rusty, her son Paul Kapigian and wife Stacey, four grandchildren, Eric Kapigian and wife Dianne, Melissa Gilmer and husband Josh, Megan Borboa and husband Brian and Korey Williams and husband Mike. Great grandchildren Rayanne and Bradley Kapigian, Madalynn and Kaelea Gilmer, Brayden and Brody Borboa; and Avery Williams with brother/sister to be. She is also survived by her last remaining sibling, brother Roy Green of San Antonio Texas and many nieces, nephews and friends.
