Sue "Sunny" Aitken

May 5, 1948 - June 13, 2025

Paso Robles, California - Sue "Sunny" Aitken, 77, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, in Paso Robles, California.

Born on May 5, 1948, Sunny dedicated her life to education and service. A proud graduate of Fresno State University, she spent over 30 years as a teacher in Fresno County, shaping the lives of countless students with her unwavering commitment and compassion.

Beyond the classroom, Sunny was deeply involved in her community. She led Girl Scout troops and served faithfully in her church's children's ministry. Her love for the outdoors was evident in the many camping trips she enjoyed with her children, grandchildren, and loved ones moments that created cherished memories across generations.

Sunny's faith was central to her life; she loved the Lord with all her heart and lived out that devotion through acts of kindness and service. Her legacy is one of joy, hard work, love, and dedication values she instilled in those around her through both word and example.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Elle, Dawn, and Adora; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Valden Aitken.

Sunny was the best extra mom a little girl could hope to have growing up. She sewed clothes for me, made me a doll that was my size, and taught me to sew. We did a million craft projects and fair entries over my childhood. She taught me to read and write in the summer when I was way behind the other kids. She cheered me on through every moment...mock trial, college, motherhood. She was an amazing grandmother. She taught us all to love animals, enjoy life, and keep a little childhood magic as you grow old. She had a full and joy filled life and loved the Lord. I have no doubt God saved her a special place in heaven.

I worked with Sunny at King´s Canyon. It was a pleasure to work with her. Sunny was a kind and caring person. I remember many afternoons standing in hallway after school with her. The best facility Christmas party ever was at her home. I´m smiling remembering her.

Our condolences to a wonderful person who made teaching fun. She was a great person who always willing to help others and I had the pleasure of working in the same school as her for a few years back in the early 1990's. She was so friendly and nice. God Bless her and her family.
