Aaron Barnes Obituary

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery, Attalla, for Aaron D. Barnes, 87, of Attalla, who passed away on Feb. 13, 2012. Dr. Roger Beshears will officiate. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barnes was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific Invasion and Japan's Occupation Forces. Mr. Barnes served as Mayor of Reece City, two consecutive terms. He was also involved in cattle farming and numerous endeavors to assist others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Vela Barnes; sister, Lillian M. Barnes.
He is survived by his brother, Frederick (Becky) Barnes; best friend, Jean Kilpatrick; nieces, Kim Samples, Paula (Tommy) Clontz, Christie (Blake) Shew; and three great-nephews and two great-nieces.
The family request no flowers. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Kyle Avenue, Gadsden, AL, in his memory.

Aaron, may you rest in peace you dear, sweet man. I met you through Jean, your most precious sweetheart. You and she made a handsome couple...she misses you so much, her heart is broken. I appreciate you, Aaron, for being such a good man and good friend...blessings and love..God rest your sweet soul.
