Cecil Gore Obituary

Cecil Tarvey Gore, 83, of Rainbow City, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 31, 2013. Funeral services will be Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Attalla. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. The Rev. Billy Buttram and the Rev. Scott Dean will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Gore was born in Cleburne County, Ga., on June 13, 1929. He began working at Republic Steel at 16 years old and retired after 42 years of service. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed working on his farm and spending Saturdays at Trade Day. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Attalla. He loved the Lord, loved gospel music and loved his church family.
He was preceded in death by Mary Naomi Gore; father, James William Gore; mother, Rosa Carter Gore, brothers, Earl Gore and Posey Gore; sisters, Ezelle Gammon, Josephine Booker, Rydell Cobb and Hazel Kinslow; and son, Billy Eugene Duncan.
He is survived by his former wife, Mildred Arlene Gore; sons, Charles (Deborah) Gore, Ronald Gore, David Gore and Kenneth (Teresa) Gore; daughters, Linda (Harold) Davis, Alice (Dennis) Jones, Lisa (Shane) Dean and Candy (Scott) Dean; grandsons, H.T. Davis, Johnny (Zabrina) Gore, Dustin Hannah (Molly Bowen), Mason Gore, Kylan Smith and Levi Dean; granddaughters, Pam (Sean) Stimpson, Tracy Marie (Terry) Galliher, Naomi Haney, Shanna (Chris) Witcher, Tabatha (Billy) Dejarnett, Tracy Ann (Chris) Whorton, Tiffanie (Thomas) Crain, Shandi Hannah, and Keisha (Chris) Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kaci (Jimmy), James, Wyatt, Josie, Hunter, Andrew, Brynnen, Bradlee, Tristan, Destinie, Cherokee, Chase, Hannah D., Will, Noah, Christopher, Bailey, Hannah H., Hudson, Blaine, Madden, Trinity, Serenity, Dustin, Jaiden and Carter; great-great-granddaughter, Katherine; sister, Vicki; and special friend, Eddie Cunningham.
Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Kim Carpenter for your loving kindness and support.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, followed by a homegoing celebration service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
