Sam always encouraged me. We took constitutional law together as undergraduates. The professor was known for never giving a female an A. Sam and I studied for tests together. He always got an A and I got a B. Sam didnt like that and encouraged me to keep trying for that A. Of course it never happened. It was a different world then, but Sam was not part of that nonsense. He was one of my best friends in college and will always be dear to my heart.

To all the Ullman family: Our hearts are heavy for you in your loss. Sam and I were associates together at the Smathers firm in the early 70's and I have great memories of him, as a person and professionally. Linda and I pray God's grace and strength for all of you at this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of practicing with Sam at Bilzin Sumberg until he moved to Gainesville. He was a brilliant lawyer, a kind man and always had a smile for you. A genuinely nice guy. Although we practiced in different departments, I would always try to drop in on him when he would visit the Miami office. A good soul... may his memory be a blessing.

I am both shocked and saddened at the passing of Professor Ullman. He was always so pleasant, just a kind man, a true rarity. I am truly sorry for the loss of your husband and father. I will miss seeing his kind face in the halls of the law school. May God keep you and your family, during this very difficult time.

Although I never met Sam in person, a mutual friend Stuart Grossman had me contact him for help with a legal situation. Speaking to Sam approx. 5 times I remember telling Stuart that Sam was as nice a person I had ever come in contact with. Sam was just doing a favor. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I know Sam was suffering at the time I spoke with him last year. I hope he's at peace now. God Bless!

Sam was a wonderful and kind man that will be sorely missed by all. It was privilege to support him in his role as a tax professor at UF Law. Whenever he was asked how he was doing, he would always answer with "Better than I deserve." He was the definition of a scholar and a gentleman. My deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.

I was a close friend of Sam's at the University of Florida. We stayed in touch through the years, though we live far apart. I actually ran into him when my husband and I were in Banff on a ski trip years ago. He was with the Miami ski club. We had the pleasure of skiing together all week. In college we took constitutional law together and studied together for the exams. We also had a mini-reunion of what he called the "Little Sisters of the Annex" four years ago in CA. We did a lot of laughing and reliving of old times. I have such a soft spot in my heart for Sam. He was always kind, loving, giving, wise, and one of the sweetest people on Earth. He lived through so much pain but never complained and always reminded me of how blessed our lives have been. I will miss being able to reach out to him, joke with him, and listen to his words of wisdom and gratitude. I loved him as one of the most dear people in my life.

Sam and I came to Bilzin about a week apart and I liked him after talking with him for 5 minutes. I also learned that my wife, Cookie, taught 1 of your kids at Beth Am. After you both moved to Gainesville, I always looked forward to seeing Sam when he was here in town and to have a chat. It was always a treat to see him. We both wore the same striped Brooks Brothers shirt frequently! I will miss him and will say Kaddish for him this Saturday morning at my regular Minyan Service at Beth Am.
