Gabriel Thomas McCollum Obituary

Gabriel Thomas McCollum, 11, of Gainesville, formerly of Toccoa, died Thursday.

Gabriel was a 6th grade honor roll student at North Hall Middle School, a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church and attended Free Chapel. He loved to fish, play baseball and taking care of his brothers. Gabriel was an organ donor, giving the gift of life to others, especially the gift of his heart to an 8-year-old girl.

Survivors include his parents, Christopher and Sabrina Valente McCollum; brothers, Issac, Seth and Noah McCollum; grandparents, Jay and Diane Franks, Doug and Barbara McCollum and Tom and Scarlett Wickersham; great-grandparents, John Terrell and Sue Stowe, Charles McCollum and Lorraine and Larry Wickersham; great-great-grandparents, Robert and Carey Rogers; aunts and uncles, Felicia and Alex Sullivan, Kay and Royal Jackson and the late Sandra Jackson; and several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Toms Creek Baptist Church, Martin, with burial to follow at Gateway Memory Park, Cleveland.

The family will receive friends at Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa from 4-7 p.m. Sunday. www.whitlockmortuary.net
