Harriet Jean Lathem Obituary

Our beloved has gone home. Miss Harriet Jean Lathem was born Sept. 5, 1932, and passed away on Jan. 3, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in the Ward's Funeral Home chapel. Tony Hanie will speak. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Ward's Funeral Home.

Miss Lathem was survived by her friends/caregivers, who she thought of as her daughter, Mrs. Lisa Hanie and son, Tony Hanie; granddaughter, Breann Hanie; cousins, Richard Hulsey, Sandra Hulsey, Edna Crispy, Claudia Whitmire, Glenda Kirby; and many other cousins.

She has joined her mother, Fannie Lathem and father, Tom Lathem.

She worked as a director for the Joy Center for a number of years. She retired from the City of Gainesville, Ga., and worked for Northeast Georgia Medical Center for a number of years.

Miss Lathem had family all over the United States. She lived alone until a year and a half ago when she moved in with her friend/caregiver Lisa and family where she stayed until she passed.

Miss Lathem traveled all over the United States with her mother, Fannie. She would sit and tell stories of all their adventures.

If anyone wanted to know about family history, Hulsey or Lathem side, she could tell them. She had an excellent memory. Her "Baby" was Richard Hulsey, her cousin whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to thank Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice, Nurse Whitney, Aide Stephanie H., social workers, Marsha and Bruce, for helping at the end of her life. Thank you all for helping us take care of our beloved Miss Jean, who will be greatly missed.
