Curtis Forbes Obituary
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Renae Black Forbes; children, Faith Danyelle, Caleb Justyn, Mekayla Joy and Joshua Alexander Forbes, all of the home.
A native of Chesterville, Mass., he is the son of Nellie M. Riordan of Gastonia and stepfather Michael Riordan and his wife, Megan of Newton, Mass. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Darrell and Melissa Forbes of Kingston, N.H.; sisters, Tammy and Ralph Parsons of Farmington, Maine, Angelia and Scott Davis of Gastonia, Hope Riordan of Newton, Mass., as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of The Furnace Church and founder of Proton Ministries. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and a minister to many.
A service to celebrate Curtis' life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, with Pastor Troy Beaver and Spiritual Father Brett Wade officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Evergreen –"A Quiet Place."
In lieu of flowers, a fund for the children has been arranged. Please send to Forbes Children's Fund, c/o The Furnace Church, 5015 Zeke's Place, Gastonia, NC 28056.

Renae and children, you have our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Apostle Curtis. He was a great husband and father to his family. ABBA FATHER will comfort you and strengthen you in this difficult time and he will give you healing that soothes both mind and spirit and He will give you His peace that passeth all understanding. Apostle Curtis will never be forgotten because he lives on in our hearts of everyone and also in the kindness and the love that he and you both had shown to my husband and me. We will never ever forget his awesome teachings that we shared with the both of you in our phone conversations. It meant so much to us.

Dear Cutis You and Your family have bene apart of my life for about 6 years now.
I wouldnt change it for the world.
Our familys were such good friends.
and Though you moved away from florida.
The love never ended.
We may have lost some connection.
But seeing you guys again brung you right back into my life.
You have a wonderful wife who is loving and caring and sweet as can be.
and Wonderful children who have always loved you.
I look at you as a Hero for many.
Cancer is quite a terrible thing for anyone on this earth.
But You kept going on and knowing God had a place for you. and knowing that no matter what happened your family might be hurt but safe for God will always be there.
The passing of you came as a shock to me.
I prayed and prayed everyday.
and If my dad could be alive then why couldnt you?
You both needed huge miracles.
and I really believe you would get yours as im praying my dad will get his.
But God knows what he is doing and we all have to live with it.
Nothing is easy to handle but we have God and our family with us.
You are truly loved and missed.

Renae and Children: My heart is thankful God is with you and that his grace is with you. There is such sadness and Joy involved. Sad that he is gone, Joyful that he is suffering no more. Curtis, I didn't get to know you very well, but I was very inspired by how strong and faithful you were through your battle with cancer. Renae and family, I just want you to know how deeply we feel your loss. We would be hard-pressed to find anyone with as much joy as Curtis had. He was a great man of God, a great husband, and a great father, but most importantly, his excitement about God was so contagious you couldn't help but catch it. I know it is hard right now, but just think: Curtis is completely healed and cancer-free, praising God in heaven right now. He's joined the ranks of the saints and angels crying, "Holy, holy, holy!" We love you guys and are so happy to have you as a part of our church family.

Curtis put up a hard fight. And he pushed through. He made a impact on alot of peoples life. Mine especially.
