Evelyn Ammons Obituary

GASTONIA - Evelyn Irene Queen Ammons, 78, passed away Jan. 7, 2010 at her residence in Georgia.
She was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Sylva, daughter of the late William McKinley and Lola Wiggins Queen.

Mrs. Ammons was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Gastonia.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Robert Ammons Jr.

The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.

She is survived by three sons; Jimmy Ammons and wife Jan of Ringgold GA, Joel Ammons and wife Libby of Gastonia, and Phillip Ammons and wife Jeanie of Lincolnton, NC, three brothers; LD Queen of Sylva, NC, Vernon Queen of Gastonia, NC and Billy Queen of Lyleford, TN, two sisters; Annette Caldwell of Gastonia and Betty Dellinger of Bessemer City, NC. seven Grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her special friend, Bobbie Carroll of Alabama.

In addition to parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Jesse Ammons, sister, Ella Mae Smith and two brothers Vaughn Queen and Alvin Queen.

Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia.
