Janesville, WI - Lucille Ann Osborne, age 89, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Janesville on August 14, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1936, the daughter of Doris Wentler (Rinehart). She graduated from Janesville High School in 1954 and was a lifelong resident. She married the love of her life, Theodore Osborne, at Cargill Methodist Church on July 30, 1960.
Lucille was the heart of our family and the soul of our community- a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose legacy will continue to shape generations. Lucie dedicated her life to nurturing others. She was known for her compassion and generosity, nicknamed "Saint Lucie". A proud homemaker, she poured her strength and her heart into raising a family she loved fiercely. Her home was more than just a place- it was a haven of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Her meals fed more than just hungry bellies; they brought people together. Her advice, always held gentle but firm, helped guide her children, grandchildren, and anyone fortunate enough to seek her wisdom.
To her family, she was a rock- always present, always listening, always lifting others up. Her pride in her children and grandchildren knew no limits, and she celebrated their every achievement, big or small, with tears in her eyes and joy in her voice. She was the first to offer a hug, a prayer, or a word of encouragement. Her belief in her family fueled the belief they had in themselves.
Lucie was also known as the birthday queen, she always remembered everyone's birthday. She sent a special card filled with stickers or pictures from when you were little. Which was sure to light up anyone's day! Her love did not stop at her front door. She helped raise a whole block about 70 kids- the unofficial mother/grandmother to so many- their bellies full of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, seats always stocked with snacks for after school, stories always listened to, and lives touched with quiet acts of kindness. Whether through a warm meal, a soft word, or simply her calming presence, Lucille left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.
Lucie's life was a testament to the power of love, patience, and resilience. Though she never sought recognition, she will be remembered as the foundation of her family and a light in her community.
She is survived by her children: Glenn (Vicky) Osborne, Julie Carmichael, Todd Osborne, and Troy (Julie) Osborne; 10 grandchildren: Rachel, Nicole, Shanda, Lichelle, Beth, Tayla, Mallory, Trisha, Alec, and Erin; and numerous great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends who adored her. She now joins her beloved husband Theodore Osborne; sons, Robert and Timmy; and daughter, Shellie who passed before her, watching over us with the same grace and love she gave in life.
