Paul Guillory Obituary

Paul Guillory January 10, 1938 – September 17, 2013 Paul Guillory was lifted from this earth to be with the heavenly father he loved so much, on September 17, 2013. Paul was born in Plaquemine, LA on January 10, 1938, to Paul and Odette Guillory. He moved with his family to Wilson Creek, CO in 1947. From that time forward he had a love for the mountains and high deserts of Colorado and Utah. Paul graduated high school in Vernal, UT. He worked a short time in the oil field and then moved to Grand Junction in 1958 to attend Mesa Junior College. There, on an impromptu ski trip to Aspen, he met Helen Marek, who would become the love of his life. Paul and Helen were married in Grand Junction on December 5, 1959. They celebrated 54 years together during which time they shared many good times with friends and family, camping, riding motorcycles, skiing, hiking, sailing, and mountain biking. Paul loved to spend time in the mountains and desert, exploring old mining towns, and reliving our rich Colorado mining history. Paul embraced life with a passion and loved adventure. He had a fondness for sports cars that led him to a long career with Volkswagen and Porsche. He worked as a manager of service and sales for Jesse Boyce Motors here in Grand Junction, for Volkswagen of America and Vern Hagasted Volkswagen in Denver. Paul was also a pilot, flying for the local Civil Air Patrol during the 1960's. He started riding and racing dirt bikes in the late 1960's, a passion that lasted until 2013. Most importantly, Paul was a man of deep faith who loved God with no bounds. He embraced his time with family and friends, was a steadfast loving husband, caring and empathetic father, rock solid brother, and very proud Grandfather. Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, Odette and Paul Guillory, and two infant daughters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Guillory; his son, Bret (Lori) and their son, Jared; his daughter, Susie; his sisters, Elaine Lowe, Betty Webb, and Ouita (Bob) Ott, and his close friends who were like brothers to him. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 11:30 a.m.at First Presbyterian Church, 3940 27 1/2 Road (corner of 271/2 Road and Cortland Avenue), Grand Junction, CO 81506. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Presbyterian Church.
