David Swift Obituary

ELLINGTON, CT - David A. Swift, 66, passed away at home January 28, 2025. Born June 30,1958 in Hanover, NH, the son of the late Dr. Clyde A. Swift and Audrey J. Swift.

Raised in Queensbury, NY, Dave resided in Ellington, CT and was employed for over 29 years as a Sr. Technology Engineer for Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford, CT. He was well liked by his colleagues for his expertise and smiling, friendly, helpful demeanor.

Many remember Dave as a devoted motorcycle enthusiast, he loved to ride from CT to Lake George area to visit friends and family. He made long rides for short meaningful visits, but for Dave, it was all about the ride. Dave had many interests and hobbies over the years. From his early years he loved to read and continued through his life. Using his intellect, he was able to quickly master any skill he set his mind to. His early passion for bicycling led to the formation of the West Mountain Mudbrothers Mountain Biking Club in 1983 of which he (Mud1) was president. He was also an avid supporter of the Conservative Party as well as Law Enforcement Agencies.

Dave is survived by his four brothers, Michael Swift of Wrentham, MA; Daniel Swift of Bolton Landing, NY; Derek (Lori) Swift of Lake George, NY; Peter (Hedy) Swift of The Woodlands, TX; and his two sisters, Diana (John) D'Agata of Queensbury, NY; Cynthia Swift of Greenwich, CT.

Dave is survived by four nieces and nephews, Greta Swift-Beeler, Gustav Swift, Garrett Swift, Emma Swift, and Dave was predeceased by his niece Sarah D'Agata.

A celebration of life and luncheon will be held on Saturday, March 1st from 12-3 pm at the Holiday Inn Lake George, 2223 Canada St., Lake George, NY.

Dave was one of the most intelligent people I´ve had the pleasure of knowing. Always forged his way to the top of his endeavors. Amazing spirit, missed dearly.

Dave was a best friend of my brother Rick. So I was lucky to get to know him, and the other Mud Brothers. Dave was always a pleasure to be around, fun and friendly all the way. Yes he will be missed.
