Adelaide Osage Obituary

OSAGE -- Adelaide Sylvia Muller, age 96, of Osage, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Pastor Alan Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage.

Adelaide Sylvia Muller was the eldest child of Oscar Leonard Lindley and Hulda (Landsgard) Lindley. She was born April 27, 1919, in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith in Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa and confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage.

Adelaide went to a country school and then graduated from Osage High School in 1936 and attended Hamilton Business School in Mason City. She worked in the ASC offices in Osage until her marriage with Maurice Flint Muller in 1939. They moved to the St. Ansgar area in 1965 after a tornado took their farm outside of Osage. They lived south of Toeterville until their retirement. In 1988, they moved to their home on Poplar Street in Osage. Adelaide has been residing at Faith Home.

Adelaide was 4-H leader for several years, and was active in Women Farm Bureau in different offices including chairman. She has always been active in her church and held many offices. She was also a Sunday School teacher for several years. Adelaide was always active in her community, church, and friends and family's lives. Adelaide adored her husband and cherished moments with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Being a housewife, she never retired, and besides her already busy schedule, she loved sewing. Each child received a homemade quilt, each grandchild on their marriage received a quilt also, plus each great-grandchild received a baby quilt. She made bears, some with music boxes, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for granddaughters and great-granddaughters, assorted stuffed dolls and animals, wall hangings and pillows, and jewelry. She also came up with many ideas for Maurice to make in his workshop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lorraine Lindley; her husband, Maurice; and granddaughter, Melissa Lynne Elliott.

She is survived by her children, Larry Muller and his wife, Nancy of Osage, Lorraine Elliott and her husband, Larry of Cedar Falls, Lynne Beyer of Decorah, and Lance Muller and special friend, Julie Bartz of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Lynn Scott and husband, Mark of Lawler, Michael Muller of Waverly, Larry Muller Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Osage, Mark Nelson and wife, Catey of San Diego, California, Jason Elliott and wife, Inger of Eagan, Minnesota, Tonya Sparrow and husband, Jason of Ridgeway, and Travis Beyer and wife, Crystal of Osage; great-grandchildren, Stephen Scott and wife, Camri of El Paso, Texas, Shanda and Jennifer Hansen of Rockwell, Stacia Scott of Chicago, Kali and Melanie Muller of Waverly, Sophie, Owen, Barrett, and Carter Muller of Osage, Bruce Elliott of Waterloo, Tyler Elliott of Wales, Sydney Elliott and Max and Emerson Corona of Eagan, Minnesota, Madison, Maxwell, Benton, and Honore Sparrow of Ridgeway, Payton Kealiher and Isis, Brighton and Avett Beyer of Osage; great-great-grandchildren, Bryleigh and Aspen Scott of El Paso, Texas; brother, Orlando Lindley and wife, Deloris of Nora Springs; and five nieces and nephews.
