Bob Ivonavitch Obituary

Bob Ivonavitch

September 14, 1940 - August 6, 2025

Robert "Bob" Ivonavitch, 84, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Manly Specialty Care. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A private burial will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Bob was born on September 14, 1940, to Steve and Marie (Straka) Ivonavitch. He grew up in Mason City, where he developed a deep appreciation for the value of hard work and the comfort of a simple life. After graduating from Mason City High School, Bob spent 19 years working at the Mason City Brickyard, and later devoted nearly 25 years to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. He took great pride in his work and was known for his reliability and quiet determination.

Bob had a gentle soul and lived life on his own terms. He had a lifelong love for the game of baseball, he followed the sport closely and cheered for all teams, but his heart belonged to the New York Yankees. He had an eye for detail and a love for history, which came through in his coin collection, each piece carefully chosen and cherished. He also found joy in the outdoors, especially on his long walks or tending to his garden, where he spent countless hours caring for his flowers and vegetables with patience and pride.

Though he lived a quiet life, Bob's presence left an impact on those who knew him. He was steady, thoughtful, and never one to ask for much. Just a sunny day, a ballgame, and a little time in the garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Marie; sisters, Helen, Donna, Evelyn, Viola "Babe", and Mildred; and brothers, George, David, Peter, Nick, Joesph and Mike.

Bob is survived by his nieces; nephews; and extended family, who will remember him for his gentle spirit, his quiet humor, and the peaceful rhythm with which he lived his days.
