OSAGE | Gerald D. "Jerry" Rogers, age 78, of Osage, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Jerry was born in Osage, Iowa, on Feb. 1, 1939, to Joseph and Mabel (Weinberger) Rogers. He graduated from Osage High School. After graduation, he served his country in the. U.S. Army. Jerry married Billie May, on June 6, 1959, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They lived in the Osage area. She died on Aug. 1, 1998. Jerry worked at Oliver/White Farm, Fox River Mills and farmed. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Being with family and friends was an important part of Jerry's life. He loved visiting and talking on face time with his siblings, nieces and nephews. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his daughters, grandkids, and giving M&M's and Skittles to his great-grandkids. Jerry was proud of his 1965 Oliver tractor which he restored and has been returned to the family farm. He loved to fish and have fish fry's with family and friends. Jerry was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing radishes, potatoes, cabbage, and a whole lot more. He loved to have his grandkids and great-grandkids help reap the harvest of the garden. Jerry had a kind heart and a passion to help others.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Deb Angell of Osage and Dena Ketelsen of Osage; grandchildren: Jason (Brian Kurtas) Ketelsen, Nathan (Katie) Ketelsen, Joclyn (Travis) Rawn and Ryan (Steph Kloberdanz ) Ketelsen, Melissa (Marty) Cooper, Travis (Steph) Angell, Katie Angell, Jordan (Steph) Angell; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Nicholas and Brianne Ketelsen, Abby Jo and Benson Angell, Maddy and Mallory Cooper and Hallie Rawn; special friend, Karon Clark and her children, Angela Clark, Tami (August) Manz and their children, Mahri and Zander; siblings, Galen Rogers of Austin, Minnesota, Marie Boerjan of St. Ansgar, Eileen Kleckner of Osage, Lorraine (Joe) Prokopec of Owatonna, Minnesota, Marilyn (Bob) Doyle of Melrose, Minnesota and Kathleen (Jim) Prokopec of Owatonna, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Billie in 1998; infant son; siblings, Clair Rogers, Maurice Rogers, Monica Faas, Marvin Rogers and Bro. Damian Rogers.
