ORCHARD | Jean C. Wetherell, age 90, of Orchard, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at the Faith Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at the First Congregational Church U.C.C. in Orchard with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Jean was born March 8, 1924, in Osage, the daughter of Ralph and Pauline (Armstrong) Dodge. She graduated from Orchard High School in 1941.
Jean was united in marriage to Glenn Wetherell on Sept. 16, 1944, at Charles City. They lived in the Charles City and Orchard areas. Jean was a member of the Orchard United Church of Christ, Orchard American Legion Auxiliary, and the Birthday Club. Family and friends were very important to Jean and she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean enjoyed flower gardening and being a "grandmother" to other children as well.
Jean is survived by two sons, Wayne (Ruth) Wetherell and David (Sheryel) Wetherell, all of rural Orchard; five grandchildren, Curt (Jill) Wetherall of Peoria, Arizona, Raina (Jim) Roll of Osage, Kerry (Jeff) Crooks of Charles City, Wendy Jensen of Orchard, Deb (Frank) Kisley of Osage; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in law, Dolores Dodge of Brandon, South Dakota, and Colleen Dodge of Osage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Wetherell in 2010; three brothers, Dale Dodge, Gordon Dodge, and Corwin Dodge.
