Kenneth was born on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943, in Hampton, the son of George and Viola (Mittelsteadt) Crotty. Following graduation from Mason City High School, Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy. For many years Kenneth was an Ironworker. He enjoyed his work and was proud of the Local No. 67. Family was important to Kenneth, and he enjoyed spending time with his son, Brendt, his grandsons, George and Cody, and Brendt's significant other, Dawn, who will all cherish the moments spent together before his untimely departure. They loved him very much.
He loved to brag about his grandsons and looked forward to watching Cody wrestle and play football. He also looked forward to taking George for malts. Cruising the north end, spending time with Smitty and friends at the car lot, and giving bones to and playing with his granddog "Sparky" were a few of his favorite things.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Brendt Crotty (Dawn) of Mason City, Buffi Tjaden (Tom) of Waterloo, Polly Butner (Darrell) of Clear Lake and Brad Westendorf of Mason City; his grandchildren, Cody, George and Sparky; his first and very special granddaughter Sarah Lee Kephart, Christa, Steph, Sam, Spence, Morgan, Taylor, Carter and Carson; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Caedan and Cameryn; and siblings, Dorothy Wilson of Hampton and Carl Crotty (Pat) of Charles City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert (Elizabeth) Crotty; brother-in-law, Max Wilson; and special friends Bart Froning, Gary, Oley and Denny Smith.
