James Durwood Milling

Millersview

James Durwood Milling, 83, of Millersview, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2015, at his residence.

Graveside service is at 10 a.m. Aug. 1, 2015, in Concho Cemetery, officiated by Brother Chris Curtis.

James was born March 26, 1932, in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, to Joe and Alma Milling.

On Jan. 14, 1965, in Odessa, Texas, James married the love of his life, Kathleen Edwards.

He graduated from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma, and coached elementary physical education for two years. James changed careers and started work for Cities Service Oil Company and eventually retired 37 years later, in 1998, as gang pusher from the company now known as Oxy Oil Company.

James was very much loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed. He loved taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fishing. He was the best father anyone could ever have as well as a very good man.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; one son, Lawarence Edwards; and one daughter, Arloween Milling.

Survivors include one son, James D. Milling of Denton, Texas; two daughters, Eugenia Watkins and husband J.D. of Eden and Tammy Milling of Ohio; four grandchildren, Sabrina Parras and husband Jeff of Midland, Katrina Clark and husband James of Odessa, Kizzy Palmer of Millersview and Larissa Edwards of Odessa; six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Micah, Joshua, Michaela, Coby and Teagan; and four great-great-grandchildren, Madyson, Dylan, Clayton and Naomi.

I miss Uncle Jim calling me Tishio. I spent more time at Aunt Kathleen's and Uncle Jim's house growing up than I did at my own.
