Kyle Miller Obituary

Kyle Harris Miller

Fredericksburg

Kyle was born in Lubbock, Texas on June 16, 1982. He attended school in San Angelo: Bonham Elementary, Glenn Junior High, and Central High School. His favorite activity, other than being with friends, was the band where he played drums in the percussion section. After high school, he attended the University of Texas and North Texas State University. While in school, he continued his love of music, playing in a band with his friends.

In February 2015, Kyle set his sights on a new and better life. He returned to Erbstuck Ranch, the family homestead, where 170 years ago his ancestors settled also seeking new and better lives. Kyle was full of enthusiasm and took on every new task with confidence. He fell right in place becoming his mother's business partner and best friend. They were a great team.

In addition to helping restore the family ranch, building fences, tending the livestock, repairing anything and everything, Kyle connected with the generations who came before him. His roots ran deep, not only in this county, but in Texas and the very beginnings of this nation. Kyle had the same spirit and the same determination as those who laid the path he now followed. He loved what he was doing.

Kyle was quite an accomplished chef and loved to delight his family with new and creative dishes - always paired with the perfect wine. He also enjoyed sharing his creations with the Bed & Breakfast guests, never failing to get rave reviews. No less talented behind the bar, he enjoyed working at Crossroads Steakhouse and Saloon. His passion for music and his welcoming smile drew people to him. His bartending years made him yearn for a more complete life. He recently set his new plans into motion and started a fencing company. He looked forward to having more time to explore and enjoy relationships while growing the Bed & Breakfast and managing the livestock at Erbstuck Ranch.

Kyle was a rare combination of intellectual brilliance and a grounded persona. His Christian upbringing offered him assurance but filled him with questions. He found the concept of eternal life fascinating. Kyle, we love you, we miss you, we are thankful for having you in our lives, and look forward to being with you again.

Kyle is survived by his parents, Jane Smith and husband Ted; Jim Miller and wife Margie; one sister, Melissa Doggett; one brother, Drew Miller and wife Tena; niece, Jessie Doggett, and nephew, Tate Miller.

I will forever remember Kyle with such sweet fondness. He was always such a sweet guy and had the most infectious smile. We had so much fun when we were together. Even after we dated, we stayed friends and he was always the first one to offer help when needed. Time moved on and we drifted apart but my memories with him will last forever. My prayers go out to his family during this time. He was loved my many and will not be forgotten.

I am so saddened that Kyle has left out lives. Like so man others, I feel as though I have lost a family member. Kyle was such a good friend to my son, Wes. I always loved it when Kyle was at our house. He was such a bright spirit with quick wit and an infectious smile. Everyone wanted to be around Kyle. Kyle was a loyal friend. A shinning star. Kyle touched anyone who crossed paths with him. I am honored that I was one who knew him.
My condolences to his dear family members. You were so lucky to have had him.

Safe trip, sweet Kyle. Go with your drumbeat and your smile. We will see you again.

Kyle,

I am so incredibly sad that you are gone brother. I wish it were not real. I wish that next time I was at Crossroads, you'd come strolling in and light the whole place up with the incredible warmth and energy that surrounded you, dancing, laughing and lifting everybody's spirits. I'm so very sorry that you are gone buddy. My prayers and sympathies go out to your family, all of the friends that loved you so much and all those whose lives you brightened. Rest in peace, we will all miss you very much.

Kyle was one of those people that everyone loved to be around. I can remember countless summer days where he was at my house, or I was at his getting into some sort of mischief. I always wanted to be as funny and as sharp as Kyle was.

I moved away during our sophomore year, and we inevitably lost touch. However, I was pleasantly surprised when he reached out to me through social media about a year or two ago. We had a great conversation; almost as if we had been in constant contact all those years we hadn't seen or spoken to each other.

Reading some of the posts from old friends over the course of the past few days, it's quite apparent that my life wasn't the only one that Kyle had a profound positive impact on. I know he has a loving family, as well as a multitude of friends that were much closer to him than I was. I can only imagine the amount of grief that you all are feeling. I hadn't seen him in almost 20 years, yet when I learned of his passing I felt absolutely gutted. I still do. My heart goes out to those of you who were lucky enough to know him and have him in your lives much longer than I did.

My wish is that during this difficult time, we can all be reminded of the great times and wonderful memories that we shared with our friend Kyle.

Rest easy, my friend. We will miss you immensely.
