William Stout Obituary

William "Bill" Dwain Stout

Stonewall, TX

William "Bill" Dwain Stout of Stonewall, Texas passed away January 4, 2019, after his heart finally lost its battle with congestive heart disease. Bill was 75 years old.

Bill was the second of four boys born to Jesse and Mattibel Stout of San Angelo, Texas on September 9, 1943. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1961. He then attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he earned a BA in Art. After college Bill worked for the Secret Service in Washington, D.C. His first assignment was in New Orleans as a Treasury agent. He was then transferred to Washington D.C., where he was on presidential detail. He had many exciting assignments including the detail of Governor Ronald Reagan, George Wallace, and Henry Kissinger.

After his time with the Secret Service Bill moved back to Texas where he continued his career in law enforcement as a detective with the Dallas Sherriff's Department. Bill had one son, William, whom he was extremely proud of and they enjoyed many hobbies together including restoring old cars, bowling, and a love of baseball. After years with the Dallas Sheriff's Department, Bill went to work for Texas Instruments (TI) as a investigator and later other computer companies in Austin, Texas.

One of Bill's many hidden talents was blacksmithing. He was a certified blacksmith, had many horses of his own and was a skilled rider. Bill was ardent student of Texas history. He studied the Indians and cowboys of the 1800's and participated in historical re-enactments, including re-enactments at the Alamo. Bill had an artistic streak and loved to create leather items and Indian items with his hands. He made authentic Indian breast plates from deer bones and created beautiful leather scabbards for knives, which he sold to collectors at various Gun & Knife shows.

After retirement, Bill moved to Stonewall, Texas to enjoy the slower pace of the Texas Hill Country. Bill never met a stranger and he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mattibel Stout, and his brother Larry Stout. Survivors include his son, William Stout and wife, Ashley, their children, Tyler, Jessica, Autumn, and Kaylie of Midlothian, Texas. Survivors also include Brigette and Jesse R. Stout of San Angelo, Texas; niece Vanessa Stout of Houston; Julia and Randy Stout of San Angelo, Texas; nephew Randy Stout of Austin, Texas; nephew Hank Stout and wife, Marit, of Houston, Texas; and niece Angela Stout Curley and husband, Adam, of Houston, Texas.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 12th at 11:00 am at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Had an art class at SWT with Bill in 1966. He laughed at my goofiness. Never forgot him and just found this. I don´t doubt that he had the wonderful life described here. RIP, Bill.
